Then I had to sign out of iCloud on the iPhone and delete the pics. The next day I was able to undo the delete so that they reappeared on all devices. I went about deleting them, but later realized that I had deleted them from ALL my devices (add a Mac Mini to my devices). Some time later, I opened my 16GB iPhone which immediately screamed at me that all those photos had maxed out the phone's storage. When I got home I pulled the memory card, plugged it into my rMBP and downloaded them to Photos, which sent them to my iCloud storage.
I recently took 285 24mp photos at the yearly Boilermaker 15K road race.
